About Troop Bay Area
Troop Bay Area launched in February 2020, and is dedicated to sharing information about free and cheap things to do in the San Francisco Bay Area with kids. Free resources are available to parents or caregivers to pick activities, track which activities they have done as a family, and connect with other parents.
How It Works
Families can earn badges by going to different locations and enjoying what the location has to offer. Once they have done this, they can use our free tracking sheet and free badge templates to keep track of their progress. New tracking sheets will be released two to three times per year. Badge descriptions can be found on our website, or on our Instagram page. Make sure to check out our Instagram stories for current events happening in the Bay Area as well.
Hi I'm Jen
My name is Jen, and I launched Troop Bay Area in 2020. I am a single working mom to a preschooler (born in 2015) and we live in the San Francisco Bay Area. When my daughter is with me, I like to plan fun activities for us to do, but I have to keep within a budget because of high Bay Area prices. When I looked for a resource where I could find fun things to do that were also cheap or free, I struggled to find much. I decided to create my own resource, so that others like me could confidently plan adventures for their families (or for themselves). I hope that you are able to join me in earning badges with your kids to explore what the area has to offer!
