Happy Hollow Park and Zoo
Located in Kelley Park in San Jose, Happy Hollow Park and Zoo (@hhpzoo) is the perfect size for kids! Admission prices are reasonable ($17.25 per person, with lower prices for military, seniors, and groups plus monthly weekday deal days for half-price admission) and you get so many experiences for the cost of your ticket. Parking is $10 per car in Kelley Park.
We always head to the Zoo in the Hollow area right when we get to the park because it's amazing to see the variety of animals that they house there. We particularly love the Capybara- we could watch him all day long.
The Zoo on the Hill is our next stop, and we particularly love the Double-H Ranch area. Make sure to bring quarters to get food for the goats and sheep- your child will likely want to feed them over and over and over again (can you guess where we spend most of our time in this area?).
They also do meet-and-greets with animals throughout the park. I loved when they brought out the Leopard Gecko, because I had one when I was younger!
There is so much more to Happy Hollow than the animal areas, though. There are playgrounds and playhouses throughout the park that kids can run through and get energy out. They also offer puppet shows, a dino dig area, a maze, and some adorable story stations that have books that you can sit down and read with your child.
On top of all of this, there are amusement park rides at Happy Hollow that are geared toward young kids. We love the Danny the Dragon ride (as you can see in my daughter's expression below). I love the Team Kids race carts (that are kid-powered) because it guarantees a tired kiddo on the way home.
Overall, Happy Hollow Park and Zoo is one of our favorite places to visit in the South Bay! Did you grow up going to Happy Hollow? Have you visited lately?
